Shippen, William, Jr.
(21 oct. 1736, Filadelfia, Pa.–11 jul. 1808, Filadelfia, Pa., EE.UU.).

Médico estadounidense. Se licenció en medicina en Edimburgo. En 1762 estableció la primera maternidad en un hospital estadounidense y, en 1765, organizó con John Morgan, la primera escuela colonial de medicina, donde fue el primer profesor sistemático de anatomía, cirugía y obstetricia. Fue uno de los primeros en emplear la disección de cuerpos humanos para enseñar anatomía. En 1777 sucedió a Morgan como médico jefe del Ejército Continental. Fue fundador y presidente del colegio de médicos de Filadelfia, la primera escuela médica de EE.UU.
